Why toroid powder core needs constain radius?

Constain radius is very important for toroid cores. Because, if there is sharp edge on the core, the edge may scratch the insulation layer on the wire during precision winding operation. MAGNETIC have worked a lot to make sure that the toroid cores have certain constain radius. MAGNETIC’s Ferrite toroid core molding-die has built-in radius and the sharp edges are removed too. One side of the core has constain radius, and the other side is smooth. Besides, after painting or coating, not only the constain radius becomes blunter, but also the wound surface becomes smoother. Just like ferrite, the coating provides additional edge coverage.
